in the dusky sweet warmth
of a dark moon in spring
we become still, and
let the dust settle.
warm bowls, ambient sounds,
aloeswood incense, and
sheepskins on the floor –
we bask in the space before beginning
and find ourselves
once more
What is Tea Ceremony?
Tea Ceremony is a traditional, subtle, natural-medicine practice, held together by the 4 pillars of Purity, Tranquility, Harmony and Respect, heavily influenced by taoism, zen and all things wabi sabi.
A way to clear the dross of every day life, connect to a deeper self, and be truly present with the beauty of reality, as it emerges. There is no right or wrong way to participate. Come as you are.
Traditionally, this is a still and silent practice, which involves sharing bowls of high-quality, old-growth tea in a small group – usually for about an hour, at the beginning or end of the day.
All elements present – incense, flowers, ceramics, water, tea and more – are sourced carefully and intentionally, so as to amplify the harmony, intention and purity of the space.
